Plymouth 2 Alano

Our History

1972

Plymouth 2 started in Vision of Glory Church

1973

The Alano club outgrew the space and moved to “Old Town Hall”. This was located near Highway 55 & 494 – approximately where North Memorial Hospital now stands. They sat on old machinery and the roof leaked. This is where they elected a president and created a board. The monthly potluck tradition was started.

1980

Plymouth 2 Alano moved into the parsonage of Oak Knoll Lutheran Church. We finally found our home. We had potlucks, summer BBQ, Halloween and winter holiday parties. With a blossoming community also came untold recovery and healing.

1996

A new church was built. Renovation of the area had started, and a deal was struck with the developers and the church. The church was to be completed prior to them tearing down the old church and parsonage enabling a smooth transition for the Plymouth 2 recovery community. The church put on our wing as one of their out-reach programs. We have had a wonderful home ever since.

2020-2022

We all entered a new era with the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. With the incredible support and volunteerism of our members, groups and board members, Plymouth 2 Alano adapted, survived and even thrived despite these challenges. During this time, Plymouth 2 Alano enabled groups to switch to online meetings by providing a premium Zoom subscription as a standard benefit to our groups. We enabled ongoing hybrid meetings with sophisticated collaboration technology in our main meeting room. We came out of the pandemic era better and smarter to the benefit of the recovery community.

2024

We resumed the beloved tradition of monthly potluck speaker meetings (which had been ended due to the pandemic) thanks to spearheading efforts of our groups and members. The Plymouth 2 Alano is delighted to welcome our entire community to share food, fellowship, experience, strength and hope together every month on the first Thursday at 6:00 pm.

Need meeting space?

The Plymouth 2 Alano club is an excellent venue for Twelve Step meetings, workshops and events. We have several meeting rooms that can be arranged to your needs with plenty of tables and chairs. We provide coffee, water and pop for purchase. Our primary meeting room is equipped with a television and videoconferencing equipment, and we provide a premium Zoom account so you can host a hybrid event. We supply AA and Al-Anon literature for purchase, and many AA and Al-Anon books are available for use in the facility.

We offer extremely flexible, accessible pricing for groups. It is our mission to lower barriers for recovery groups so they may thrive and carry the message to those in need.

Groups at Plymouth 2 Alano are completely independent of the Plymouth 2 Alano Society. Reach out to a board member if you are interested in making the Plymouth 2 Alano your group’s home or using the facility for your recovery workshop or event.
